Ricci started playing adult roles after The Ice Storm (1997) and was following by The Opposite of Sex, in which Ricci was awarded an Golden Globe Award nomination as the Best Actress. in 1999 she was recognized by critics for her role as a character in Sleepy Hollow and Monster.
